Anyway after the Google escapade which involved being sat on by a Panda and pecked by a penguin we can now get back to something resembling normality – hence the first uploaded new design for quite a while.

To be found in the personalised mugs section on mug shop – it can be personalised with a message of up to 70 characters long including spaces. Design is light and clean so it makes a great little gift.

Mug shop was unfortunately one of the sites which was bumped from the top of page one to around page 7. There is no apparent reason why this should have occurred and it is still unclear if it is a result of something we haven’t done right or a glitch in Googles algorith. (we are not the only ones effected – have a look at the posts on this blog on Googles webmasters central.)

Since Google do not really give any information out to what may be the cause of the problem there is a need to look at everything. One of the issues we had was with a parked domain (this actually was caused by a bug in googles parked domain classifier. A fellow zen carter suggested that a locating the blog on its own site could prove beneficial so, since there was a domain sitting around free the blog was moved. As you can now see the mug shops blog now sits on its own URL personalisedmugs.biz .

If you have a link to the old blog then there is no need to change anything as we have included a redirect from the old blog which takes place automatically. Hopefully the latest google saga will be at an end soon and we can get back to creating cool new personalised mug designs for you.

Our first new range of Keep Calm mugs is a spin off of the now established keep calm idea which were based on a poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of the Second World War, intended to raise the morale of the British public in the event of invasion.

We have produced one of the classic Keep Calm and carry On designs as is to be expected however whats we have done which is new is to offer it in 8 colour variations.

Our next step was to create a personalised mug using the Keep calm design on the front and back of the mug with the option of adding a name ans well as selecting from a variation of tea coffee choices.

By this time were on a roll and were enjoying the design process so much we cam up with a large number of spin offs which we created to make people smile and laugh.   (My favourite is the Sex Drugs and sausage Rolls.)

Our new custom printed mugs section on the website now makes it easy to purchase 5 or more mugs based on your own design and it includes price breaks for various order quantities. (price break charts can be found at the bottom of each product page.) To make the process even simpler we have also segmented the custom printed mug section up into front & back custom printed mugs and wraparound custom printed mug as well as including a re order – custom printed mugs section with no minimum so you can re-order a few of the mugs in the future if you need them. The same system is in place for personalised custom printed mugs which also has a re order – personalised custom printed mug facility.

All of the above makes the purchasing of custom printed mugs easier however we have also made the creation of the mug design easier as well as we have introduced a number of  Photo shop and Printable templates which can be downloaded and used to create your designs. These are all housed in our custom printed mugs template library and includes both front & back as well as full wraparound templates.

Finally, if you are not able to create your own design using the template scheme or just don’t have the time, then look at our custom mug design service where you provide us with the necessary graphics in electronic format IE: Logo’s, Photographs or Images, as well as instructions on how you would like your mug to look and any personalisation details and we do the rest.

So what is on the cards for the year ahead?

Well quite a lot really, in fact so much I am going to have to cherry pick them as I don’t want to go on for too long. Firstly we are going to be offering all our existing designs out for franchise. What this effectively means is that we are going to contract with selected suppliers around the world who will offer our mug designs on their websites. When an order is placed we create the design for them (be it personalised mugs or non personalised) and send it to them so that they can fulfill the production side and put it onto the mug.

In addition to this we will still be focusing on the important detail of creating more designs and offering more services. The launch of our Mug of the Month award in October has gone down really well, so much so that we have decided to create a Become a Designer scheme off the back of it. The scheme allows you to submit a mug design to us, or several, and if we think it is good enough we will add it to our online catalog. When someone buys a mug with the your design on, you will receive £1 if your design is personalised, 70p for a non personalised designs and £1.30 for photo mug designs, which roughly equated to a 10% commission. So if you think you have a good design, send it to us and we will do the rest.

As for new designs the list is quite long but here are a few we have on the drawing board. On the personalised side we have hibiscus surfboards, cupcakes, rainbows, wax crayons and a you are here world map design. We are also adding a Keep Calm range which will have personalised mug variations as well as standard mug designs. On the business mug side we will be creating a similar template service as offered with our design your own mug service. The difference between the two services will be that  the business mugs section will offer quantity price breaks.

Finally we will be adding a few new variations of mugs to the website with the introduction of Wow mugs which change colour as you pour hot water into them, as well as porcelain and glass mug options on certain designs.

So its going to be something of a fun and busy year.
